Billy Ray Akers (Trader) 71, beloved husband and loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Passed from this life peacefully on March 27, 2014. He was preceded in death by his mother, Merlie Wilson Akers; father, Otis Akers; mother-in-law, Delores Masters and special friend, George Kenczyk; two brothers, Oscar and Rolin Akers. Also preceded by several nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his loving wife of 19 years, Mary Masters Akers, five wonderful daughters, Cindy (David) Howard, Sherry Noe, Heather (Jeremy) Mefford, all of Harlan, Helen Jones and Cynthia (Wayne) Widener of Pineville and Miracle, respectively; two brothers, Charlie Akers & Bobby Akers of Stoney Fork, sister, Carrie Fisher of Desplains, Il and Carolyn Messer of Stoney Fork; special friends, Travis Seal & Steve Warren; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren with one on the way, he was anxious to meet; a host of loving nieces and nephews whom he will miss greatly; a multitude of friends and CB buddies. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to caregivers, Rex Slife and Stephanie Hamm, the doctors and staff of Fort Sanders who were so loving and so kind to him and his family during this difficult time. Services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at Arnett & Steele Funeral Chapel with Rev. Herstel Belcher. Burial will be in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 10 AM Saturday until the funeral hour at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Akers Family.
