Beulah Mae Warren Pursifull

March 15, 1925 — February 11, 2016

Beulah Mae Pursifull, a resident of Page, Kentucky, was received into the arms of her Lord and Savior Thursday, February 11, 2016. Beulah was born on March 15, 1925, the daughter of Amanda and Dan Warren of Arjay, Kentucky. She was a graduate of Bell county High School , where she was named Miss Bell County High School and represented her school in the Mountain Laurel Festival Parade in 1941. Beulah went on to graduate from Peabody Teachers' College and received graduate degrees from Eastern Kentucky University and Vanderbilt University. Beulah was a lifelong resident of Bell County where she served students, teachers and administrators in the Bell County School District a Supervisor of instruction for over forty-four years. She was elected to several leadership roles in professional organizations at the regional and state level including as appointment to the Advisory Committee on Kentucky Educational Policy by Lieutenant Governor Emerson Beauchamp, being elected President of the Upper Cumberland Education Association, and being chosen for the 'Excellence in Teaching ' award by Eastern Kentucky University. She was a blessing to the educators she mentored and the students who benefited from the millions of dollars in programs and services she brought into the Bell County School District. Beulah was the Republican nominee for Bell County Judge Executive in 1982. She was a member of the Pineville Presbyterian Church where she taught classes and served on the Board of Deacons, the first woman chosen for that position. Beulah was loved, respected and admired by all who knew her. Beulah was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James A. Pursifull, her son, Warren Arvey Pursifull, stepson, James Pursifull, Jr., brothers, Claude Warren and Oscar Warren and sister, Kitty Warren. She is survived by her loving and devoted son, Dr. Brent B. Pursifull, grandsons, Trevor and Chase Pursifull, their mother, Jodi Pursifull, step-grandson, Jimmy Pursifull, nieces, Deidra Evans, Beulah Lykins, Sylvia Cornelius, Marlene Knuckles and Yvonne Gilliam, sister-in-law, Darcus Warren and nephews, Freddy Davis, Murrell Davis and Danny Warren. The family will receive friends at the First Presbyterian Church, Pineville, Kentucky, Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Jim Woodring will immediately follow visitation at 6:00 PM. Music will be provided by Jeanene Simpson. A private interment service will be held at the Pursifull Cemetery on Monday, February 15, 2016.
