Betty Ann Lord, 82 of Pineville, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at her home. She was born in Brewton, Alabama on January 2, 1941, to the late Lucius and Julie Ann Daw Thornton. Betty was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and had been a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Teresa Diane Lord, Allen Dwayne Lord, and Tony Franklin Lord; great-grandchild, Mia Marie; and siblings, Richard O. Thornton, Lawrence Thornton, Earl Thornton, Ora Mae Taylor, and Johnnie Faye Burkes.
Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bishop Allen Lord; children and their spouses, Stephen Mitchell and Tina Lord, Becky Lord, Dennis Wade and Teresa Lord, Melody Faith and Tim Reynolds, Lawrence Darren and Susan Lord and Pamela Annette Lord; brother, Charlie Thornton; sister, Nadine Orick; special friend and fur baby, Brodie; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the Church of God of Prophecy in Wallsend with Rev. Ken Lyle, Rev. Tim Reynolds, and Rev. Tina Lord presiding. Burial will follow at the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens in Pineville. Pallbearers will be Brandon Lord, Stephen Lord, Derek Lord, TJ Lord, Jeremy Taylor, Bryan Reynolds, and Lucious Lord. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Chad Gambrell, Buddy Nelson, John Nunn, Dr. Combs Woolum, Dr. Lohe, the Dialysis Clinic of Pineville, and Amedisys Home Health.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Church of God of Prophecy in Wallsend.
