Betty L Lawson

Betty L. Lawson, age 86, of Richmond, died Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Arbor Trace Exceptional Senior Living.

Born December 24, 1929, in Monroe, Michigan, to James and Ruby Buttery Hill, Betty was a resident of Richmond since 1968. She loved gardening, working with flowers and being outdoors. Betty was known for being an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing. She was dearly loved by her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survivors include her daughters, Janet (Kenneth) Clark of Harrogate, Tennessee, Karen (Sid) Carpenter of Richmond, and Debra (Ed) Snyder of Lynn, Indiana; son, Daniel (Debra) Lawson of Richmond; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; cousins; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe W. Lawson Sr., who died in 1991; parents; son, Joe Lawson Jr.; daughter, Pamela Joy; brothers, Jimmy and Ulis Hill; and sister, Norma England.

The family would like to thank the staff of Arbor Trace Exceptional Senior Living for the love and excellent care given to Betty.

Visitation for Betty L. Lawson will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, at Summey's Bridge Baptist Church, 239 Providence Road, Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2016, at Summey's Bridge Baptist Church with her grandson, Rev. Darren Jones officiating. Burial will be in Greasy Hollow Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Local assistance provided by Reece Funeral Home, Harrogate, TN
