Betty "Katherine" Howard

Betty "Katherine" Howard, 89, of Stoney Fork Ky, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. She was born to the late Ray and Pauline Southard on April 4, 1929 in McClure, Virginia. Katherine was of the Baptist faith, and a member of the Stoney Fork Baptist Church. Katherine attended Union College, where she earned a Bachelor's degree, and become an Alumna school teacher. She spent most of her 36 years of teaching was at Right Fork School Center. She also earned a Master's degree in counseling from Eastern Kentucky University. Katherine is proceeded in death by her husband of 51 years, Raymond Howard, son Gary Howard, grand-son Charles "Chuck" Newman, two sisters Phyllis Gilliam and Elizabeth Southard, and two brothers, Tom and Robert Southard . Katherine was survived by her two sons, Raymond "Wayne" and Kenneth "Kenny" Howard; daughter, Betty Newman; four grandchildren, Tim (Viola) Howard, Alex Newman, Chelsea Howard, and Ashley (Nick) Jones; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and one brother Jim (Buela) Southard. Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Messer. Burial will be in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Middlesboro. Pallbearers will be Nick Jones, Donnie Maness, Aaron Hillman, Charles Hillman, Konomos Brummett and Jason Couch. Honorary pallbearers will be Pearl Ray Lefevers, Rice Johnson Jr., Lou Brock, John Slusher and Harvey Couch. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 until 9:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Pineville, which is honored to serve the family of Betty Howard.
