Living a life full of faith is uncommon today, yet for Betty Hobbs it was as easy as breathing and as natural as her smile. Betty’s unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life, influencing her every action and decision. Because of her exceptional faith she was a champion when battling a condition that tried to rob her of her happiness and joy. As it gripped her body, she clung to her faith. And because of that she finally won. She is rejoicing with her savior this day, walking free and effortless on the most beautiful glass streets of gold.
Family was important to Betty and she loved her parents, sisters and brothers. Faith was instilled in her at an early age by her mother, Bertha. She developed this faith into a strong will that enabled her to fight with courage and dignity in the hardest battle of her adult life, Multiple sclerosis.
Betty was loved by all who knew her. She became a teacher and in no surprise to her family, she chose to teach children with special needs. Second to God and family, Betty loved teaching at Lone Jack Elementary. Her commitment to education went beyond the classroom; she touched the hearts of her students and colleagues with her kindness, patience, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child.
One of her passions was to cook a big meal for her family. She loved to cook. And in Betty’s eye, every meal needed something sweet. She became famous for her chicken and dumplings, her hot dog chili and her coconut pies. It brought her immense pleasure to cook and share it with others.
Her gentle guidance, compassion, and strong moral compass were a source of strength and inspiration for her family and all who knew her. At home, Betty was the heart and soul of her family. She was a loving mother who always put her children first, providing endless support, wisdom, and love. Her laughter, warmth, and nurturing spirit created a home filled with joy and cherished memories.
Although every day tasks became painfully difficult for Betty, she kept a smile and a heart full of love always giving to others. Her body may have been weak, but she was strong. She took great pride in seeing her daughters get married and start their own families. She was blessed with 2 grandchildren, and they were the apple of her eye along with her daughters. We take great comfort knowing where Betty is today, surrounded by all those that she loves that have gone before her.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give at that day…”
