Betty Jane Hensley

Betty Hensley, 85 of Ingram, Kentucky, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, September 17, 2022, at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Ely Hollow on December 23, 1936, a daughter of the late Woodson and Viola Doan Smith. Betty was a precious mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved to cook for her family and could make the best chicken and dumplings ever. Betty was a faithful Christian and member of the Straight Creek Pentecost Holiness Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Daniel Hensley; son, Ricky Hensley; brothers, Riley Smith, Loyd Smith, and Jack Smith; sisters, Geneva Mills, Ellen Hooker, and Hazel Warren.

Left to mourn Betty’s passing are her daughters and their spouses, Dorothy and Dennis Laws of Gray, Joyce and Lenny Sturgill of Ingram, Gale and Harmon North of Ingram, and Debbie and Paul Jr. Shepherd of Ingram; sons and their spouses, Larry and Teresa Hensley of Harrogate, Loyd and Teresa Hensley of Straight Creek, and Carl Hensley of Pineville; daughter-in-law, Eva Hensley of Straight Creek; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; brothers, Charles Smith of Hamilton, Ohio, and Joe Smith of Hamilton, Ohio; sister, Ruth Daniels of Hamilton, Ohio; special friends, Mildred Lewis and Brenda Neal; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, friends, and church family.

The family would like to give a special recognition to the Bluegrass Care Navigators for being so good to our mother and family.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the Straight Creek Pentecost Holiness Church with Pastor John Neal, Brother Dustin Simpson, and Brother Jerry Shepherd presiding. Music will be provided by the Straight Creek Pentecost Holiness Church Singers. Burial will follow at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
