Bessie Ruth Chumley

Bessie Ruth (Siler) Chumley, age 97 of Harrogate, TN went to be with the Lord early Friday morning February 12, 2021. She was born December 19, 1923 in Middlesboro, KY to the late Nanny (Wilson) Siler and George Washington Siler. Bessie loved her church, and she loved the Lord. She was a prayer warrior and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a very faithful WMU Director and she prayed for her family by name every day.  Bessie married the love of her life and devoted husband, Haynes Chumley on August 28, 1942. They were married for 72 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Haynes Chumley, daughter; Patty Smith Russell, sisters; Thelma Price, Elsie Wilmoth, Reba Chumley, brothers; Johnny Siler and infant brothers.

She is survived by her sons; Dennis Chumley and wife Katie, Danny Chumley and wife Deborah, grandchildren; Bobby Smith, Kathy Butcher, Griffin Chumley and wife Gina, Graham Chumley and wife Paige, Daniel Chumley and Candice Chumley, great grandchildren; Nathan Smith, Ashley Lambert, Gabby Chumley, Grayson Chumley, Syler Chumley, Hayes Chumley and Hylan Chumley, brother; Ray Siler and wife Mildred, Sisters-in-law; Hassie Jean Lay of Virginia Beach, VA and Martha Nell Chumley of Bellevue, OH. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone at Amedisys Healthcare, Dr. George Day, Middlesboro Nursing and Rehab and Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital for their care of Bessie.

Family and friends will meet 10:45AM Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the Chumley Cemetery for 11AM graveside services with Rev. Terry England officiating. Music will be provided by Katie Chumley and Daniel Chumley.

**Everyone is required to wear a facial covering per the family's request.**
