Benis Saylor 'Red' Venable, 84 of Pineville, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born in Stoney Fork, KY on July 18, 1929 a son of the late Bill and Delphia Saylor Venable. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Venable was a member and Deacon of the West Pineville Baptist Church for over 30 years. He had been a salesman for Rowland Chevrolet. Venable dedicated his life to public service and loved politics. He served on the Pineville City Council for 29 years and served as a Pineville Police Chief for many years. Benis was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, including a special brother, Frank Goley and a special nephew, Tommy Buchanan. Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Betty Jean Trosper Venable; children and their spouses, Steve and Tina Venable of Williamsburg; Debbie and Jeff Jones of St. Petersburg, FL; Mike and Lisa Venable of Pineville; Anthony and Tonya Venable of Somerset and Tyler and Jessica Venable of Pineville; grandchildren, Brittney and Patrick Nuskay of NY; Kristy and Brian Synder of MI; Elliot Kaelber and Caitlyn Kaelber of FL; Allie Venable and Braden Venable of Somerset and Tori Venable of VA; great-grandchildren, Drew and Julia Snyder; Peyton, Parker and Presleigh Venable of Pineville; brothers, Pete Venable and Ray Venable both of Loyall; special nieces and nephews, Christine and Tom Butler, and Leroy Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
