Barbara Brock Howard

Barbara Lynn (Brock) Howard, 79, of Mill Creek, KY, departed this world for Heaven on Thursday, April 20, 2017. She was born August 12, 1937. She was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where she served the church in many ways over the years. She served as pianist for 40 years, beginning at the age of 10, and grew up working in the church alongside her father, Rev. Otto Brock, who was the church pastor, and her mother, Ora Howard Brock, who loved the Lord and her church so much. She was retired from the Bell County School System where she served as a teacher at Right Fork School Center for most of her career. Mrs. Howard was a compassionate, caring teacher who was greatly loved by the many students whose lives she touched. She dearly loved her students, as well. In addition to her parents, Rev. Otto and Ora (Howard) Brock, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 55 years, Robert E. Howard, her twin brother, David Glynn Brock, her brother-in-law, Dr. Dan Woodson, and her nephew, Dr. Thomas Woodson. She is survived by her family whom she cherished, daughter, Renee' Howard of Mill Creek, KY, granddaughter, Bobbi Collett Carter of Mill Creek, KY and fiance' Steven Silcox of Middlesboro, KY, great-granddaughter, Kennedy Peyton Carter of Mill Creek, KY, sister, Jan Rose (Brock) Woodson of Oklahoma City, OK, nephews and wives, Drs. Mark and Alexa Woodson of Oklahoma City, OK, and Michael and Denise Woodson of Oklahoma City, OK, niece, Christy Brock, Frankfort, KY, as well as a host of great nieces and nephews. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Pineville, Kentucky, on Monday, April 24, 2017. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. with a graveside service following at the Brock/Howard Family Cemetery in Mill Creek, KY. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Ray Collett, Rev. Rondald Howard, and Rev. Jeremy Sanders. Music will be provided by Rev. Ron, Rev. Rodger, and Benny Howard, Rhonda Collins and Mildred Dozier, and Edwina Eldridge. Pallbearers will be family members: Will Lefevers, Donny Lefevers, Tom Lefevers, Jon Defevers, Tom Gambrel, Michael Ray Long II, Craig Brock, Albey Brock, and Scott Madon. Honorary pallbearers will be Colman Lefevers, Keith Lefevers, Brian Lefevers, Johnny Lefevers, Henry D. Howard, Rev. Gabriel Collett, Greg Lasley, Kevin Johnson, Derrick Thomas, Darin Thomas, Dr. Jim Corum, and Scott Collett. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Steven Morgan, Brandy Lasley, Tiffeny Treece, the Pineville Community Hospital staff, Yvonne Gilliam, Stephanie Brock, Rosie Haley, Mildred Dozier, Sheila Risner, Mary Caldwell, Jamie Collett, Aleisha Lewis and Chasity Brummett for their care, support, and friendship during this time.
