Arthur Ott Sanders

Arthur “Ott” Sanders, age 77, of Arjay, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, at Pineville Community Health Center. Born on May 12, 1948, in Arjay, Ott was a lifelong resident and a cherished member of his community.

Ott was known for his warm heart, sharp wit, and genuine kindness. He never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. A dedicated coal miner for many years, he was no stranger to hard work and exemplified the values of perseverance and integrity.

He found joy in the simple things—spending time outdoors, hunting, and making memories with family and friends. Ott’s sense of humor, love for storytelling, and easygoing spirit brought laughter and comfort to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Hester Sanders; his children, infant David Sanders and Arthur Darrell Sanders; and his siblings, Louise Baker, Mildred Harris, Geneva Beeler, Jack Sanders, Larry Sanders, and Dwight “Sug” Sanders.

Ott is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Judy Sanders; his loving children, Melissa Sanders, Jessica “Blue” Wagner (Chris), and Chadwick Lee Sanders (Presley); 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings, Doris (Charles) Miller, Lois (Bob) Cloutier, Pat Leggett, Fern Larmore, and Brenda Ogan.

Special thanks and recognition go to his nephews, Shawn Ward and Ryan Carnes, who were always a helping hand and a steady presence in Ott’s life—loyal, dependable, and deeply appreciated. Their care and support meant the world to him.

Ott also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Arthur “Ott” Sanders leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be at 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Sanders and Rev. Terry Nelson presiding. Music will be provided by Terry Nelson and Gary and Julie Wagner. Burial will be at 12:00 PM on Monday at the Red Hill Cemetery in Arjay with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
