Annette Pennington Walden, 85 of Pineville, KY, widow of Robert Walden, died on April 19, 2012, after waging a courageous two and one-half year battle with cancer. Annette was born in Pocket, VA on September 2, 1926, and moved to Four Mile, KY as a young child. Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Elver Pennington; a brother, Dr. Kenneth G. (Helen) Pennington; and two sisters, Thelma Jean Pennington and Mary Alice (Bill) Allen. She is survived by three nieces, Jane (Joe) Hudson of Lexington, KY; Annette Allen of Brandenburg, KY; and Lisa P. Montgomery of Charleston, SC. Also surviving her are a great nephew, Christian A. Sweet; a great niece, Stephanie (John) Crosier, and three cherished great- great nephews, Will, Joseph, and Sumner Crosier, all of Brandenburg, KY. Annette attended grade school at Four Mile and was a graduate of Lone Jack High School. She graduated from Union College in Barbourville, KY in 1949. Annette taught in the public schools for thirty years with her last school being Harmony Elementary in Bell County where she touched many young lives. She retired in 1981. Annette was an accomplished pianist and organist with a love for all types of music. Her love of music was an inspiration to her and to the many friends and family who were able to experience her exceptional musical skills. She was the organist at the First Baptist Church in Pineville for many years and was a devoted member of the congregation where she was a participant in many church activities. Because of her musical talent and skills, she was frequently asked to play at weddings, funerals, and community events. Annette was a faithful supporter of the Mountain Laurel Festival. Even after Annette became ill, she enthusiastically looked forward to being with her many close friends on Fridays at the Flocoe. Annette frequently commented during her illness that there could have been no better place for her to live than Pineville.
