Alvis George Turner, 96, of Greenback, Tennessee passed away on November 11, 2025 at Starr Regional Health and Rehabilitation Center in Etowah, Tennessee. He was born on October 29, 1929 in Tazewell, Tennessee, and was the son of the late John Arch and Flora Ella Cheek Turner. He was a Christian and believed in the Methodist faith. Alvis left Tennessee for Michigan, where he became a highly sought after Licensed and Bonded Auto Mechanic, and worked for Webster-Duvall Lincoln and Ford in Monroe, until his retirement and return to Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his four oldest children, Annakate McNeil, the mother of his youngest son, Sue Howe; brothers, Major Turner and General Turner; sister, Ruth Turner Jessie; and his son-in-law, Ken Schwall.
Survivors include his children, Carina Schwall of Greenback, Tennessee, Mark Turner of California, Vallerie Haney of Englewood, Tennessee, James Turner of Petersburg, Michigan, and David Turner of Kentucky; ten grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 15 at the Riverview Cemetery in Harrogate with Rev. Travis Chumley officiating. The Arnett & Steele Valley Chapel in Harrogate is honored to be serving the Turner family.
