Kawana Kay Maidon Douglas passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Kay was born on January 14, 1962, in Pineville, Kentucky, to the late Roy “Gene” and Marlene Partin Maidon. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donnie Ray Maidon, and grandparents, Porter and Della North Partin.
Kay’s passion was singing and playing her guitar. She had recorded several cassette tapes and CD’s singing her favorite gospel hymns. Many she had written herself. She sang at hundreds of churches throughout the United States as she loved to travel. At the age of 43 her second passion became a reality when she graduated Southeast Community College as an LPN. She loved taking care of and helping people. Kay had an infectious laugh and a wonderful, humorous personality. If you had the pleasure of knowing Kay, you had the pleasure of knowing a remarkable lady.
Kay is survived by her husband, Frank Douglas; children, Heather and Kenny Hollingsworth, Kalynn and D.J. Warwick, Barry James and Julie Gibson, and Morgan and Emmanuel Rodriguez; stepchildren, Tim Allen Douglas and Beth Ann Williams; sisters, Vivian and Zyndall Evans and Theresa and Rodney Miracle; grandchildren, Austin Kenneth and Kenzie Hollingsworth, Kendra Kay Hollingsworth, Kainen Ridge Warwick, and Kinzy Ellen Warwick; grandchildren she loved as her own, Charlie Hollingsworth, Aaron and Aarabella Hollingsworth, Alicia and Caleb Partin, Isaac and Madison Gibson, James and Maddison Gibson, Anna Kate Gibson, Maggie Gibson, L.J. Patterson, David, Elizabeth, Cade, Andrew, Emily, and T.J. Douglas; special nieces and nephews, John and Melissa Maidon, Dustin and Nikki Evans, Monica Thompson, and Brittany and Eric Fuson; special friends, Debbie Partin, Linda Gail Hurst, Rita Lambdin, Steve Donahoe, and Newman Henegar; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Barry James “B.J.” Gibson presiding. Burial will follow at the Douglas Cemetery in Duff, Tennessee. Pallbearers will be Kenny Hollingsworth, Austin Hollingsworth, John Maidon, Dustin Evans, Tim Douglas, and D.J. Warwick.
