Ada Walters Downing

March 11, 1918 - February 27, 2009

Ada Walters Downing, 90 of Pineville passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009 at Pineville Community Hospital. She was born in Ferndale, KY on March 11, 1918 a daughter of the late John Wesley and Mary Edmondson Walters. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pineville and had been a store clerk and a receptionist for Dr. Watkins. Ada was a devoted minister’s wife working in churches that her husband pastored, was very active with the WMU and other church groups and loved to help with youth groups.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Rev Donald Q. Downing and brothers and sisters, Dora Walters, Hubert Walters, Myrtle Brooks, Arthur Walters, Edward Walters, Clifford Walters, Milford Walters, Della Bennett, Mahala Bacon and Opal Grubbs.
Survivors include her brother, Hobert and Helen Walters of Houston, TX and her niece and caregiver, Wanda and husband Ralph Johnson of Pineville and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Information

Services will be at 4:00 PM Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Howard and Mr. Jay Steele. Music will be by Mrs. Annette Walden. Burial will follow in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
