Larry Carl Browning, 65 of Pineville, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Pineville Community Hospital. He was born on June 5, 1943 in East Pineville a son of the late William Bradley “W.B.” and Grace Ethel Giles Browning. Larry was a veteran of the United States Army, was co-owner of W.B. Browning Construction Company, was a charter member of the Bell County Volunteer Fire Department for which he served as Chief for many years and had been very active in starting the Appalachian Fire Museum.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leon Browning and sisters, Mary Francis Woods and Lois Faye Hendrickson.
Survivors include his son, John Browning and wife Bonnie, whom he considered as his daughter, of Laurel Hill; grandchildren, Dylan Cody Browning and Lauren Allison Browning; brothers, Billy Browning, Jerry Browning and Van Browning; special friend, Mary Hunter and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Information

Services will be 2 PM Sunday at the East Pineville Baptist Church with Rev. Shelby Money and Rev. Murphy Buell. Music will be by the East Pineville Baptist Church Choir. Burial will follow in the Browning Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Hodge, Jess Taylor, Mike Clore, Bob Burns, Jim Jones, Henry Lawson, Tim Pursifull, Don Perry, P.J. Burnett, Kevin Hoskins, David Brock and Doyle Halcomb. Honorary pallbearers will be The Members of the Bell County Volunteer Fire Department, Fred Woods, John Earl Patterson, Jay Steele and Dr. Steve Morgan.
