James Joseph Davenport

James Joseph Davenport, 64 of Gray, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at his home. He was born in Barbourville on September 13, 1947 and was the son of Bill and Mary Belle Tye Davenport. He believed in the Catholic faith and enjoyed his many hobbies, such as gardening and Ham Radio. He was a member of the American Radio Relay League, Inc. for 40 years and used what is now the Silent Key WA4HAR call sign. In August 2006 he retired from KCEOC Community Action Partnership, Inc. where he was Deputy Director for 26 years.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a very special uncle and aunt, John Henry and Alma Tye Jones.

On September 1, 1984, he was united in marriage to Debra Hamilton Davenport, and to this union two daughters were born, Sarah Ann Davenport of Richmond, KY and Larah Beth Davenport of Gray, KY. He also leaves behind many other family members and dear friends.

Funeral Information

Graveside interment services were held in the Barbourville Cemetery on Monday afternoon with his nephew, Rev. Adam Woolum officiating. Private cremation services were under the direction of the Arnett & Steele Cremation Center in Pineville.
