Franklin Delano Knuckles

Franklin Knuckles Franklin Delano Knuckles, 78 passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Tri-State Health and Rehabilitation Center in Harrogate. He was born in Bird Branch on November 21, 1931 a son of the late Millard Fillmore and Lydia Greene Knuckles. Frank was a graduate of Bell County High School and Harlan County Vocational-Electrical School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and had been a heavy equipment operator and an electrician, and was the co-owner of M & K Electric.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Della Doan, Thomas Calloway Knuckles, Roberta Thomas and Brown Lee Knuckles.
He is survived by his wife of fifty three and a half years, Mildred Garrett Knuckles of Pineville; children, Douglas Lee Knuckles and wife Terri of Harrogate, Donald Wade Knuckles of Lexington, and Jennifer Lynn Smith and husband Scott of Laurel Hill; grandchildren, Benjamin Douglas, Patrick Aaron, Margaret Michelle “Maggie”, Dillon Asher, Brenden James, Ashlynn Greer, Ian Dennis, Kayla Michelle, Matthew Blake, Caleb Scott and Alexandria Grace “Alli”; brothers and sisters, James Oscar Knuckles of Atlanta, Ruby Mae Myers of Phoenix, AZ, Charles Cecil Knuckles of Burton, MI and Paul Letcher Knuckles of Atlanta; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral Information
Services will be Wednesday at 8 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Robey Walters. Graveside services will be at 11 AM Thursday at the Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery on Laurel Hill. Pallbearers will be Harold “Hunk” Johnson, Bruce Bennett, John Brock, Ronnie Redmond, James “Smitty” Smith and Thurman Miller.
The family will receive friends after 6 PM Wednesday until funeral hour at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home in Pineville which is honored to be serving the Knuckles family. Guestbook at www.arnettsteele.com.
