Phillip Watts

Philip Lee Watts, Jr., 61, of Straight Creek, went home to be with the Lord after a short illness on January 13, 2010. He was born in Cary, KY on January 18, 1948, a son of Mary Taylor Watts and the late Rev. Lee Watts. He was a member of the Cary Church of God of Prophesy. He was a retired coal miner, electrician and was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam. He loved the Kentucky Wildcats Football and Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds Baseball.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Sudie Watts and Wilse and Rosie Taylor; son, Philip Jeffery Watts, grandson, James Matthew Watts, nephew, Daniel Watts, father-in-law, Wilburn Carl Smith and niece, Roxanne Brock.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Vickie Smith Watts of Straight Creek, daughter Angel Watts Bruner of Athens, GA, son, Kevin Randall Watts of Richmond, KY; mother, Mary Watts, mother-in-law, Bytha Smith Lefevers; grandchildren, Philip Michael Bruner, Laken Savannah Watts and Sydney Izabelle Watts; brothers, Bishop Custer (Drusilla) Watts, Bobby (Phyllis) Watts, Howard (Regina) Watts, sisters, Shirley Watts, Judy (David) Widener, Betty (Albert) Dahn, Carolyn (Ted) Wells and Sally (Phillip) Widener, most of whom live in Straight Creek, KY; brothers-in-law, Eddie (Shirley) Smith, Carl (Sheila) Smith and Johnny (Linda) Smith, sister-in-law, Linda (Walter) Brock and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Information

Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Bishop Custer Watts and Rev. Walter Brock. Burial will be in the Straight Creek Company Cemetery, Straight Creek, KY. Pallbearers will be Chris Lewis, Albert Dahn, Davey Widener, Michael Johnson, Chris Collett and Travis Smith.
