James Earl Houston

James Earl Houston, 81, of Pineville, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the Pineville Community Hospital. Born in Rose Hill, VA on February 14, 1928, he was the son of the late Walter Houston Catron and Amanda Walles Catron. He had been a maintenance person at the Pineville Memorial Cemetery, a former Pineville Volunteer Fire Fighter and a former Bell County Jail Employee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Chloe Brock Houston, daughters, Kathy Smith and Mary Ann Houston; brothers and sisters, Lou Tucker, Mossie Raby, Ruby Collins, Mildred Catron and Hershel Catron.

Survivors include his children, Ruby Johnson, James W. Houston, Timothy Houston, Denise Mason, Lou Ann Minton and Darlene West; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Information

Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. George Neal. Music will be by friends. Burial will be in the Saylor Cemetery at Brock Hollow, Pineville. Pallbearers will be Roger Grubbs, James Widener, Donnie Jo Fuson, Jr., T.J. Minton, Adam Cox, Johnny Hubbard and David Evans.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 9 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville.
