Charles Starrett Lawson

February 19, 1945 - December 22, 2007

Charles Starrett Lawson, 62, of Kettle Island, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at his home from cancer. Charles was born on February 19, 1945 in Beverly, KY, the son of Lawrence and Sinda Taylor Lawson. He was of the Pentecostal faith and had been a Painter. He served in the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Meyers, brothers, Clayburn, Lloyd, Sam and Ledford Lawson, step-daughter, Marie Carnes and step-brothers, David Lewis.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Joyce, son, Charles Edward of Kettle Island, step-sons, Bryan Lewis and wife, Melissa of Kettle Island, Leon Lewis of Kelly Island, Terry Lewis and wife, Diana of Tazewell, TN and Tim Lewis and wife, Sheila of Arjay, step-daughter, Linda Smith and husband, Leonard of Arjay; brothers and their wives, Kenneth and Carolyn Lawson of Beverly and Lester and Priscilla Lawson of Palatine, IL; sisters, Belle Borgen of Michigan and Fern Kubiczs of Palatine, IL and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Information

Services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Don Messer and Rev. David Gambrel. Music will be by Kathy Brock and Rosemary Jones. Burial will be in the Brummett Cemetery at Simms Fork. Pallbearers will be Jody Helton, Tim Jackson, Michael Hurley, Dewayne Lawson, Thomas Carnes, Tim Arthur Lewis, Gary Bailey and Marty Hensley. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Shawn Fugate, Darrell Bailey and Rev. David Gambrel.
