Matt Wilson

Matt Wilson, 86, of Speedwell, TN, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was born in Bell County on November 7, 1920 a son of the late Sol and Bessie Pittman Wilson. He was a former resident of Brownies Creek and resided in Middlesboro for several years before moving to Speedwell. He was a Deacon at the Missionary Baptist Church and had worked until retirement as a skilled millwright at Ford Motor Company. Matt, a strong and unique individual, a “nuclear physicist,” was a loving father, the best grandfather a child could ask for and leaves wonderful memories for his family and all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his children, Donald Wilson and wife, Lona of Speedwell; daughter,
Betty Foshee and husband, Robert of Somerset; grandchildren, Camillia Elayan and husband, Aiman, Donald Ray Wilson, II and wife, Jennifer, Matthew Wilson and Derrick Phillips, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Information

Services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Derwin Brooks and Rev. A.J. Ramsey. Music will be by Charles and Jeremy Heck. Burial will be in the Mountainview Cemetery at Harrogate with pallbearers Donald Wilson, Derrick Phillips, Aiman Elayan, Steven Elayan, Justin Elayan and Kevin Elayan. Honorary pallbearers will be Victoria Rose, Lindsey and Tyler Wilson and Madison Phillips.
