Grant Wilson

Grant Wilson, 83, of Calvin, KY passed away on Friday, October 19, 2007 at the Pineville Community Hospital after fighting a long battle of cancer.

He was born February 18, 1924 in Middlesboro, KY, the son of the late Richard H. Wilson and Rinda Hoskins Wilson. He was a World War II Veteran, a Life Member of the American Legion Post 32 in Bicknell, IN and retired from General Motors in Pontiac, MI. He was also a member of the Cannon Creek Primitive Baptist Church, which he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Devauda Hurst Wilson, the mother of his children, his second wife, Gertrude Johnson Wilson, daughter, Joann Wilson, sisters, Opal Lee Earls and Mary E. Sparkman and son-in-law, Hollis Moyers.

Survivors include his two daughters, Betty Jean Moyers of Knoxville, TN, Barbara Ann Daniels and husband, J.W. of Calvin; three grandsons, Earl Wayne (Buddy) Wilder, II; Rex Morgan (Tucky) Wilder and Stephen T. Moyers; four great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters, one step-son, Bill Johnson and wife, Mary of Michigan; two step-grandsons, one step-granddaughter and several step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leo Wilson and wife, Frances of Middlesboro and Donald Wilson and wife Charlotte of Athens, TN; sister, Hazel Wagner and husband Bob of Ohio, one half-sister, Shelia Bailey and husband, C.F. of Tazewell, TN and several nieces and nephews, a very special friend, Lucy Bailey and a host of friends and church family.

Funeral Information

Services will be at 8 PM Sunday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Elders Steve Greene and Jodie Risner. Burial will be in the Bicknell Memorial Cemetery, Bicknell, IN on Monday, October 22 at 3 PM, CST.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cannon Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Middlesboro, KY.
