Rev. Melvin Beverly, 52, of Arjay, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Pineville Community Hospital. Born on April 28, 1957 in Muskegon, MI, he was a son of Delphia Jones Beverly and the late Arthur Beverly. He had been a Pastor at the Arjay Community Pentecostal Church for many years and had been a foreman in the coal mines. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, father-in-law, Riley Smith and brother-in-law, Jimmy Smith. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Geraldine Smith Beverly, sons and their wives, Randall and Elizabeth Beverly and Toby and Jennifer Beverly; grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah and Emily Beverly, mother, Delphia Beverly; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Sandra and Adron Wilson, Sheila and Tim Lewis, Marvin and Dianne Beverly and Mark and Linda Beverly, a very special friend whom he considered as a daughter, Aleisha Lewis and her husband, Steve, mother-in-law, Virgie Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral InformationServices will be at 2:00 Pm Tuesday at the Arjay Community Pentecostal Church with Rev. James Roark, Rev. Gary Wagner and Rev. Larry Hensley. Music will be by Church singers. Burial will be in the Beverly Family Cemetery at White Mountain with nephews and friends of the family serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Brummett, Dewey Saylor and Melvin’s many friends. The family received friends after 6 PM Sunday and all day Monday at the Arjay Community Pentecostal Church, Arjay.
