James M Gilbert, III, 69 of Livingston, TX, formerly of Marshfield, MA and Harrodsburg, KY, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his family, after a fierce battle with cancer, on Thursday, October 9th, 2008. Inspired by his love of travel, Jim and his wife, Jane sold their home in 2003 and spent the next four years getting to know this beautiful country. Jim was an amateur nature photographer, avid bird watcher and loved to cook and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam era. Receiving his ham radio license while in high school, Jim (W5IRW) enjoyed contacting fellow hams around the world. Jim was a long-time member of the North Community Church in Marshfield Hills, MA

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. James M. Gilbert and Edith Vandiver Gilbert

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jane Royalty Gilbert, daughters Laura Gilbert-Duhamel of Brockton, MA and Lisa Gilbert of West Warwick, RI; grandson , Michael Shea of Brockton, MA; cousins, Steve and Sissy Cawood , Janie Brooking and Mrs. James (Thelma) Pursifull all of Pineville.

Funeral Information

Graveside Services will be Friday, October 17 at 1:00 PM at the Pineville Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jim Woodring. Pallbearers include his grandson, Michael Shea of Brockton, MA and nephews Jay Royalty, William Craig, and Jedaiah Lane; Steve Cawood and James Nold.
